In November 2002, NEC Electronics Corporation separated from parent company NEC Corporation and established itself as an independent, dedicated semiconductor company. At NEC Electronics, we provide semiconductors used in a range of sectors,
especially automotive and industrial, and consumer electronics, to customers worldwide.

Building on strengths created through collaborative development and manufacturing, NEC Electronics aspires to be a leading semiconductor company committed to the trust of its customers and society.

The focus of business on the three product areas of

Our Corporate History

   
July, 1899 Established as Nippon Electric Company, Limited
1950 Commenced transistor development
1958 Established Japan’s first transistor mass production factory at the Tamagawa Business Office
1974 Started overseas expansion of production/sales bases
1985 Semiconductor share #1 in the world, maintained the top for 7 years afterward
1995 Developed the world’s first 1-Gb DRAM
1997 The semiconductor business group received the first "Japan Quality Award"
November, 2002 Established as NEC Electronics Corporation
-- NEC's semiconductor business was split/became independent as a semiconductor specialist manufacturer
July, 2003 NEC Electronics Corporation listed on the 1st section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange
2004 First in the world to establish embedded DRAM technology
2005 Completed construction of the 300 mm wafer line at NEC Yamagata
2006 NEC Electronics Establishes Subsidiary in Korea
2007 Global No.1 in 32-bit MCU shipments (Source: Gartner)
2008 Indian liaison office opened in Bangalore
